Critical Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Nexus

This course provides a focused exploration of the complex environment surrounding critical infrastructure protection. Participants examine the role of partnerships, emerging threats and technologies, and incident management practices that shape resilience across sectors. Designed for practitioners and decision-makers, the course equips learners to think strategically about safeguarding the systems that underpin national security and economic stability.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course examines the policy, operational, and strategic dimensions of critical infrastructure protection (CIP). It introduces learners to the structure of the critical infrastructure environment, including the sectors, stakeholders, and governance mechanisms that shape protection and resilience efforts. The course emphasizes how public agencies, private sector entities, and cross-sector partnerships interact within this environment.

Participants will explore the evolving threat landscape affecting critical infrastructure, including cyber, physical, and hybrid risks, as well as the implications of emerging technologies. The course also reviews foundational concepts in risk management and resilience, helping learners understand how infrastructure systems are assessed, prioritized, and safeguarded.

In addition, the course addresses incident management frameworks and practices as they relate to infrastructure disruption. Through lectures, readings, and guided discussions, learners are encouraged to engage critically with current challenges and consider how policy, coordination, and operational decision-making influence infrastructure protection outcomes. The course is self-paced and designed to support both independent study and facilitated discussion.
